Operation Sunshine has been a beacon of hope and opportunity for underserved girls ages 5-13 since 1968. Through after-school programs and summer camps, we offer tutoring, homework assistance, mentoring, family support, spiritual lessons, character development, and a variety of fun activities and trips at an affordable cost. Your support will empower us to purchase a much-needed Van, expanding our reach and Scholarships, ensuring more girls can benefit from our life-changing programs.

What Is Operation Sunshine All About?





Operation Sunshine is a 501c(3) non-profit, public service organization that was established in 1968 by a group of ladies in Greenville, NC, called the Church Women United. These ladies had observed that when young ladies ages 5-13 were out of school during the summer months, they had nothing positive to do with their time. Since these young ladies lived in single-parent homes in West Grenville communities, they were classified as “at-risk”. As a result, the Church Women United Group decided to find ways to ensure these young ladies did not end up in trouble and drop out of school. So, Operation Sunshine, Inc. was formed as an after-school and summer program. It was funded and supported by local church groups to provide these young ladies with positive educational, physical, and mental activities and experiences.
